1 Hour Test

I had my regular Doctor visit Monday and she told me all about what I needed to do for today, my one hour glucose test. She told me to eat 1 and 3/4 banana's 1 hour and 5 minutes before my appointment. Which was today (Friday) at 9:15am. Which means I needed to start eating my bananas at 8:10 and have them finished by 8:15. Go in at 9:15 tell them I ate the bananas and have my blood drawn. That way I wouldn't have to drink the nasty drink and sit for an hour with the kids. Simple enough right?

Welllllllllll ..

I woke up late.

Who would have thought I would sleep after 8am? I'm always up before then or at least wake up and check the clock a dozen times before then. I'm a LIGHT sleeper.

I got up at 8:30am. Scarfed down 1 and 3/4 bananas and jumped in the shower. I have no idea what the hell I was thinking. It takes me DAYS to get ready especially with the kids. I half dried my hair, didn't fix it, NO makeup, NO lotion, NO smelly good spray, woke up the kids, threw clothes on them and hauled ass out of the house.

I didn't grab any money and forgot my phone. I had $21 in cash in my wallet, which I checked the price sheet list and the test was supposed to cost $17.50. Fine right? Apparently not.

I walked in at 9:35. I lied, said I at the bananas at 8:35 .. not a complete lie because I at them at 8:32 and was finished at 8:34. I just didn't want them to say I was ONE minute late and make me come back all over again! So they sent me back at 9:40! I hope to God my test is accurate, well honestly either way I don't care .. I just want to pass!!!

Anyway, had the blood work done, while Jackson screamed his head off because I had to throw him in a corner chair, I didn't want him yanking needles out my arm. Went to pay AND of COURSE guess what? $56.50!! WHAT IN THE HELL.

I've got to go back and pay sometime today, great. This baby is costing us gazillions already. I'd rather be buying diapers for the child than paying $90 every other week and money here and there for all these tests. Looks like I'll be having a medication-free all natural birth, not because I want to .. but because I want to save money some damn way while having this child!

If I fail this test, I'm totally blaming my awful bad cravings this week for shitloads of awful bad foods.

Wednesday: Homemade Fettuccine Pasta with Homemade Chocolate Pie for Dessert
Thursday: The same homemade chocolate pie for breakfast, what was I thinking? Burger King for lunch, MCDONALD'S for supper!! All with Dr Pepper to drink! I usually drink water or sprite since it's caffeine free.

Okay, I'm an idiot. HUGE procrastinator. And soon will be poor from all these baby appointments.

Can I decline the 3 Hour if I fail? I can't imagine the cost of that one if the 1 hour was $56.50. That one is probably 3x the price.

So now I have to go to the doctor twice a month. Not sure if I've mentioned that yet? $90 a visit. Hubby says I'm healthy, don't go. Has he lost his mind?! I can't be the trashy woman who doesn't go to the doctor when she is pregnant and pretends she didn't know she was pregnant until the baby comes out, ha!

JANUARY, HURRY UP! :)

Doctor Appointment, False Contractions & Lots of Pumpkins!

I had my doctor appointment today. I showed up 30 minutes late, but luckily they still saw me since I called ahead and told them I'd be late. Although, one lady seemed to be a little aggravated by it, oh well. Never expect me to be on time to ANYTHING.

I'm 22 weeks today.

I've gained 12 lbs total so far.

I weighed 121 today.

Baby's heart beat sounded great, he was kicking and rolling around in there. I could feel it and hear it .. it was pretty awesome.

My doctor told me that after my next appointment I'll start going every 2 weeks! Holy crap, I can't believe I'm getting that close. And honestly, I dread paying $90 every other week. I'm sure hubby will be thrilled as well.

All that and I peed in a cup and I'm $90 poorer.

Went to Walmart and picked up a few crafty things to paint some pumpkins. Came home and painted and painted AND painted.

I missed most of Grey's Anatomy, makes me sad, but oh well. I'll see the next one next week. BUT, I did see Private Practice and it's my favorite anyway.

I cleared over 200 pictures off my camera today, but still didn't take any pictures I just haven't had time .. plus I've got to get up EARLY tomorrow. Or try to anyway.

I'm going to be taking lots of pictures tomorrow so I promise there will be lots to see and not just read SOON! :)

Ohhhh crap! I just reread my title and realized I forgot to mention I was having Braxton Hicks contractions today. Not fun. My tummy kept getting rock hard then back to soft and hurt so bad! It's maybe the 2nd or 3rd time I've got them! Busy little me just can't seem to slow down!!

Here's some pics of the boys I did take today prior to all the painting and such.

This is so Carson.. arms crossed and that face.

Love this one. But sadly, I hate our stupid new dog.

Had to get little man too! If only Carson was looking!

And I couldn't leave out my cute little Jackson watching his absolute favorite show ever. He would watch Barney all day. He is constantly saying "watch Barney".

Carson, Jackson, and new baby (we don't know your name yet) .. I love you.

18 Weeks!!!!

I don't know why I'm so excited to be 18 weeks. Maybe because I'm that much closer to my ultrasound and being halfway to seeing this little guy or girl in January!! :)

Weighed 116 today and the baby's heart rate was around 147. Makes me think boy now!!

Now I'm so very anxiously awaiting next Thursday, our ultrasound. I'm so torn on whether we should find out or not!! I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Here are some pics from today, my little man Carson helped me take. I love my babies .. all THREE of them! :)

I just love playing around with picnik!

Adding to the list of cost ...

4. 18 week Doctor Appointment: $90.00

Making our new Total: $1,793.24

Cost of Having a Baby Without Maternity Insurance

Basically, if you're self-employed and don't have maternity insurance before getting pregnant, you're not going to get maternity insurance, and so that leaves us paying out of pocket. I've done tons of researching on the whole self-pay with no maternity insurance and it turns out, since we're paying cash, apparently you get a cheaper discount on things rather than paying through insurance. It seems the prices are jacked up when you pay through insurance, and the doctors obviously like the cash now idea, and not having to worry with all the billing and insurance mess. So when I found out I was pregnant and I knew we couldn't get medicaid, we make too much this time around (I had it with both my previous pregnancies) I called my OB and let them know I was pregnant without maternity insurance and they scheduled me an appointment right away instead of the bs appointment where you go in and pee, just so they can prove you really are pregnant then send you back again 2 weeks later for your real first appointment. Anyway, they gave me a self-pay sheet with all the prices listed for everything. Everything we will be paying through them. Basically, everything but the hospital bill, which I need to get on that because I would like a hospital self-pay sheet too.

Luckily, we live in the south and baby delivery is supposed to be cheaper here than anywhere else. And I've read when you pay cash, likely at the hospital if you pay pretty quickly like, within 24 hours or before leaving, I've heard people getting their bills cut in half and even more! Plus everywhere I've searched overall it cost about $5,000 without insurance, and that's obviously the lowest .. meaning no complications, etc. Anyway, we've already paid our doctor the delivery bill (which is a little crazy being we're like 6 months from even having the baby. But, at least that's one more bill behind us.

So anyway, I wanted to keep up with all the costs for having a baby without insurance, because I want to believe so bad it's better than actually having insurance. As long as everything goes good. And by the way, I do still have my regular health insurance, just no maternity.

So here is what we've paid so far:

1. 1st Doctor Appointment (June 3, 2010): $210.00

2. 2nd Doctor Appointment: $90.00
Pregnancy Blood Tests: $138.00
Total pay for (July 1, 2010): $228.00

3. 3rd Doctor Appointment: $90.00
Cultures (Taken in June): $125.24
Pre-Paid Vaginal Delivery: $1,050.00
Total Pay for (July 29, 2010): $1,265.24

Total Pay So Far: $1,703.24
